Class A Fire
Engines are designed primarily for structural
firefighting. These apparatus carry 800 gallons of
water, have pumps that can discharge 1500 gallons of
water per minute, carry 3000' feet of hose and carry a
compliment of portable ladders. Due to the size
and weight of these apparatus, their use off-road is
extremely limited.
Class A Engines also carry a full compliment of
medical equipment. Engine 91, located at the Mud
Bay station, also carries a Thermal Imaging camera and
auto extrication equipment.
The purchase on two new Class A Fire engines will
enable the district to provide a Class A Fire Engine at
each District station and will provide for a reserve or
"backup" engine as required by the Washington
Survey and Rating Bureau.
