The Fire Protection Technology Program offers students the unique opportunity to gain valuable work experience while working toward their Fire Protection Technology degree.  While students take their core requirement on the South Puget Sound Community College Campus, McLane Fire and Life Safety is their primary classroom.  Students are assigned to a 24-hour rotating shift schedule, learning and performing all tasks required of a professional firefighter while under the direct supervision of a career officer.  This hands on training is not limited to drills and practical experience.  The program offers the unique opportunity to experience "real life" situations, while responding to fire and emergency medical calls.

The program is challenging.  It's not for everyone.

Program participants are required to meet and maintain vigorous physical fitness and academic standards.
