Openings are now available for Volunteer Firefighter,
Support Services and Emergency Medical Services Personnel.
McLane Fire and Life Safety provides emergency medical, fire
and rescue services to the residents of our district - 24 hours
a day. As a volunteer firefighter you will become an
important part of our response team. We have many
volunteer opportunities available ranging from volunteer
firefighter, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Support
Services personnel.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
1. Will I receive payment for
my time?
No. As a volunteer, you are donating your time to the
community. As an incentive however, you will receive a per
diem for the time you spend on shift.
2. After initial training, how
much time will I spend at the Fire Department?
The District requests that you
volunteer approximately 24 hours a month. In addition,
you must stay current on all mandated training requirements.
3. What nights will I be
required to drill on?
Drill night is Tuesday evening at 7:00
p.m. However, you have the option of fulfilling your
training requirements while on shift.
4. What will I have to pay for
or provide if I volunteer?
The only thing you will need to provide
are your personal leather safety boots. The District will
provide everything else.
5. How will I know when I'm
needed and where to go?
You will be issue a radio paging device
that gives you all the information you need in the event of an
emergency.
6. Do I have to live in the
Fire District to volunteer?
No, you do not have to live within
district boundaries to volunteer your time.
7. How do I get started?
