Commissioner Mark Campeau

Mark Campeau began his public service career in 1976 when he joined the U.S. Navy, serving as an Electrician’s Mate First Class aboard a fast-attack submarine. During his time in the Navy, he was also a member of the Damage Control and Firefighting team, gaining early experience in emergency response and fire safety. After leaving the Navy in 1982, Commissioner Campeau worked as an Electrician and First Responder for the Satsop Nuclear Project. In 1993, he joined Tacoma Power–Cushman Hydro as a Hydroelectric Plant Electrician. He later advanced to the role of Real-Time Energy Trader and retired as the Assistant Section Manager of Real-Time Energy Trading at Tacoma Power.

Commissioner Campeau’s involvement in the fire service continued after his military career. In 1994, he began volunteering with the McLane Fire Department, where he served for five years and attained the rank of Lieutenant Firefighter. He returned to McLane Fire Department in 2000, this time serving as a Fire Commissioner. He held this position for eight years before being elected to the Olympia School Board of Directors. Following his 10 years of service on the school board, Commissioner Campeau was appointed by the Board of Fire Commissioners in 2018 to fill a vacant seat. He successfully ran for election to complete the two-year unexpired term from 2019 to 2021. Commissioner Campeau holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Washington State University.
